AIFC Participants have contributed over KZT 126 billion in taxes to Kazakhstan’s budget

In the first three quarters of 2024 alone, AIFC participants paid KZT 41.3 billion in taxes to the Kazakhstani budget — an increase of KZT 4.4 billion compared to the entire previous year. Additionally, AIFC participants have created more than 9 600 jobs to date.

Participants of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) have contributed KZT 126.5 billion in taxes to Kazakhstan’s budget from 2018 through the third quarter of 2024, according to AIFC Authority analysts.

In the first three quarters of 2024 alone, AIFC participants paid KZT 41.3 billion in taxes to the Kazakhstani budget — an increase of KZT 4.4 billion compared to the entire previous year. Additionally, AIFC participants have created more than 9 600 jobs to date.

AIFC participants are companies registered under the jurisdiction of the financial centre. Since the AIFC’s inception in 2018, the number of participants has grown steadily. Today, over 3 300 companies from more than 80 countries are registered, including leading global financial entities such as Amicorp, Kazakhstan’s first multilateral trading platform International Trading System (ITS), top cryptocurrency exchanges (Binance, Bybit, BigOne), crowdfunding platforms (iKapitalist, GoCrowd), professional service providers (KPMG, EY, PwC, Deloitte), venture capital firms (Most Ventures, Quest Ventures), regional development banks (China Construction Bank Corporation, China Development Bank), and one of the world’s top 10 gold and silver producers (Solidcore Resources).

The most common sectors among AIFC participants include information and communications (34%), professional, scientific and technical activities (15%), and wholesale and retail trade (15%). Foreign-owned companies account for approximately 42% of all registered companies, with significant representation from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

To date, investments attracted via the AIFC have reached USD 13.2 billion (KZT 5.8 trillion), including USD 5.9 billion (KZT 2.6 trillion) in portfolio investments via the Astana International Exchange and USD 7.3 billion (KZT 3.2 trillion) from AIFC participants.

It is important to note that all AIFC participants are tax residents of Kazakhstan and are required to maintain accounting records in compliance with Kazakhstani tax legislation, as well as submit the relevant reports, regardless of any applicable tax incentive
